Learning support at the LSE
The LSE provides an excellent range of opportunities to develop your skills for academic study, languages and your future career, as well as help improve your proficiency in areas such as research, learning technology and information-search.
It may be that the School's approach to teaching will be quite different from anything you have experienced before, in which case these services will be able to help you with the transition.
For undergraduates and MSc students, there is a wide range of study-skills events organised by the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) throughout the academic year. Details can be found on the Learning World website in Moodle (also on LSE Training and the central timetable).
For research students there is a comprehensive schedule of specialist sessions on PhD preparation, as well as opportunities to develop teaching skills on the PGCHE (Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education) programme.
If English is not your first language there are free classes for all students to improve writing, speaking and academic abilities on offer from the Language Centre. There are also opportunities to get qualifications in other languages by enrolling on Certificate courses or Degree options.
The Careers Service offers seminars, workshops and individual support for career planning and job seeking.
There is a full range of training courses available to students for library skills, IT and learning technology.
Finally, living and studying in London can sometimes be overwhelming; even the best of students sometimes need extra support and the professional (and free) Student Counselling Service can help.
LSE also gives full support to students with physical and/or medical conditions through the Disability and Well-being Office.
