Remuneration for heads of department

In June 2008, the Remuneration Committee reviewed the supplements of office holders, including Heads of Department and agreed the following:

Supplements

  • A supplement of £12000 (formerly £7500) per annum which the Head of Department may take as either non-superannuable or superannuable depending on which option is preferable at the particular point in their career.

    or

Research Assistance

  • A sum of £12000 (formerly £7500) for research support.

Sabbatical Leave

  • A three year period in office to count as nine years for the purposes of calculating sabbatical entitlement (three years normal service plus an additional six years as a special Heads of Department allowance).

Commutation of Sabbatical

Sabbatical leave accrued by virtue of being a Head of Department eg for three year period (six years) to be commuted to cash at a rate of £3000 per annum.
