Opportunities to link your LSE MSc with study abroad

Page contents > LSE-HEC MBA/MSc | Master of International Studies at George Washington University | European Master's in Labour Studies | JD/LLM exchange scheme | Joint Environment Master's Plan

As well as the joint and double degree programmes that LSE offers, you may also have the opportunity to link your postgraduate study at LSE with a degree course at another institution.

These schemes typically involve the studying of two separate, existing degrees, which when combined together allow the student to obtain both qualifications in a shorter period.

LSE-HEC MBA/MSc

Arising from the alliance with HEC, School of Management in Paris, LSE offers an MSc/MBA Double Degree. This scheme offers postgraduate students the opportunity to study an MBA at HEC in the reduced time frame of 12 months (usually 16 months) when combined with any MSc degree at LSE (with the exception of MSc Management (Two-year programme), MSc Management and Strategy and MSc International Management).

The programme is designed to train leaders from international careers in both the private and public sectors. It brings together the contemporary subject areas of social sciences and management studies in order to provide participants with a global perspective and the contemporary techniques which will help their organisation to compete effectively and flourish in a complex and ever evolving international setting.

Applications to each degree are independent and acceptance into one institution does not guarantee entry into the other. The scheme allows applicants to study the MBA or LSE MSc in either order, requiring an application to be made to the partner programme during the first year.

For information on the HEC MBA, including application details, please visit www.hec.fr/hec/eng

The standard application process and entry requirements apply for entry to LSE MSc programmes. All accepted students will follow the standard MSc programme at LSE and will be awarded an LSE MSc on completion.

Master of International Studies at George Washington University

The Master of International Studies (MIS) is a unique programme open to current students and recent alumni from the master's programme at a number of partner institutions around the world, including LSE. Recent LSE master's graduates (who have completed within the last three years) are eligible to study the MIS degree at George Washington University in the shortened time frame of one year after their LSE master's.

Whether your interests are in global trade, the developing world, international public health, security and conflict resolution, or other global and regional issues, the MIS programme prepares students for careers in diplomacy, public service, international and non-governmental organisations. For information, please visit www.gwu.edu/~elliott/academicprograms/mis/index.cfm

European Master's in Labour Studies

LSE students on the MSc International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management, or the MSc Human Resource Management can spend a further semester studying at a partner university within the EU to gain the European Master's in Labour Studies. They are asked to apply for places on the programme in the Lent term of their MSc and are selected by the academic organiser within the department. This selection is based on language skills and academic capabilities.
