All students must submit a formal Research Proposal of 8,000-10,000 words excluding references to the Department on or before the deadline in September. The proposal is written under the guidance of their supervisors (as set out in AN442), and will normally draw on material studied as part of the Anthropological Fieldwork Methods seminar (AN441). It will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of the regional ethnography, and theoretical and methodological literature, relevant to the proposed research.
