Summary of research interests and expertise: Dr Zeitoun's area of expertise lies in international trans-boundary water policy, management and negotiations. He leads the London Water Research Group which examines the role that 'power' plays in international trans-boundary environmental co-operation and conflict, otherwise known as 'hydro-hegemony'. River basins in focus include the Jordan, Nile, Tigris - and through the rest of the group - Mekong, Orange and Ganges. He has also worked extensively as a humanitarian-aid water engineer in conflict and post-conflict zones, including Chad/Darfur, Congo-Brazzaville, Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine. He is a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (Canada), the Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief (UK) and the International Water Resources Association (USA). Mark also heads the LSE/KCL London Water Research Group, which runs many seminars on hydropolitics (see link, above).
