University of London academic staff and research students
University of London academic staff and research students can apply for a Library card using self registration. Additionally, if you wish to apply for external borrowing privileges, please bring a Sconul Access borrowing card with your current academic ID card.
Your academic ID card must be shown every time you renew your membership and when you come to collect your membership card. If your ID card does not clearly indicate your status (e.g. Staff, Research, Masters, UG, etc.), please also bring a letter of introduction from your department to confirm the relevant details.

University of London taught course degree students
University of London taught course degree students may apply for reference access to the Library by using self registration. Please bring your current university ID card to the Library Reception within four weeks of submitting the self registration form.

University of London External Degree students
All University of London External students apply as Members of the Public. Please note that reference access does not provide access to Course Collection material during LSE term time.

SOAS Staff and postgraduate degree students
Academic staff, research degree students and Masters degree students registered at the School of Oriental and African Studies receive extended borrowing privileges from the Main Collection. Validation by a head of department/ supervisor is not required. If your ID card does not clearly indicate your status (e.g. Staff, Research, Masters, UG, etc.), please also bring a letter of introduction from your department to confirm the relevant details.
Undergraduate students from SOAS may apply for reference access. ^
