Library Resources over the Easter Period and the British Library

The British Library welcomes researchers from all backgrounds to use its Reading Rooms for academic, commercial or personal research. During the Easter vacation however, the British Library experiences very high levels of use. LSE Library staff are therefore recommending that you only visit the Reading Rooms at St Pancras during this peak period if you have a genuine need to access the British Library collections.

As you may know, the British Library is particularly suited to providing support for postgraduate research students. If you are a Taught Course student and you need to use other libraries, you will normally find what you need at the University of London Library at Senate House or at other University of London colleges, many of which are only a short walk from the LSE. You can search other University of London library catalogues by going to http://www.inform25.ac.uk or by going to Using other libraries on the LSE Library homepage.

If you find that the British Library is the only location for a book you need, why not consider placing an Interlending and Document Delivery Request (IDD)? The advantage of IDD is that books requested through this service are delivered to LSE Library for a period of several weeks and may be available for use at home. The British Library does not allow you to borrow books, so IDD may be more convenient for you.

For more information about the IDD service or about using other libraries please visit the Library website or ask at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Library.
