Search for Authors

Author searches are useful if you are looking for a particular book and only have the author details. They can also be used to find everything written by a particular author or editor.

You can search for authors (or editors) using keywords, or by browsing by surname. Just as with title browsing, an author browse will display an alphabetical list of authors that match your search term.

Important

To browse for books edited by Martin Miller, enter the search term Miller Martin in the Find This box, as the Catalogue index is organised by surname first.

Tip

Authors’ first names are often listed in the Catalogue in an unexpected way. For example: Sandy Balfour might be catalogued under the name Alexander Balfour, or even A.E. Balfour. Often it is best to browse by surname only. That way, you can then look through the list of matches to find the author you want.
