Search Everything

To start searching straight away in the Library Catalogue, you can type your key words in the Find This: box and leave the Find Results In: box set to Search Everything. The Library Catalogue will present a list of items that contain at least one of your search terms, with the closest matches at the top.

Tips

Do not type small words such as ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘the’.

If you need to type more than three search terms, you may find it easier and more precise to use Advanced Search.

Search Everything can be a powerful search option. Not only does it search for titles, authors, subject headings and series, but it also enables you to search for publishers, publication details, general notes in the record, even ISBNs (the International Standard Book Numbers, which uniquely identify each title).

Search Everything also enables you to search for the same information in different parts of the record. For example: you can search for a person’s name and obtain a list of references in which that person is the author or the subject of the publication.
