Finding books and journals in the Library - use the Library Catalogue

The Library Catalogue is accessible via the website or the dedicated Catalogue computers in the Library.

The Course Collection on the ground floor will contain most required reading for Summer Schools.
Check the Library Catalogue for classmark and location details.
You can borrow:

  • two red or blue labelled books for 48 hours
  • two orange labelled books for 24 hours

The Main Collection refers to the collections on the first, second and third floors. Use the printed floor plan guides.  Books and journals are shelved by classmarks that begin with a letter (or letters) followed by number, e.g. HD82. You can borrow:

  • two yellow or white labelled books for two days

Your total borrowing entitlement for the Course Collection and Main Collection is five items.

Borrowing, returning and renewing

Use self-service! - the quickest and most convenient way to check out, renew or return books is to use the self service machines. These are located in the Course Collection and adjacent to the Service Counter and our self issue machines make this even quicker. First pick up your PIN - You need this four-digit security number to self-issue your books, renew your loans and to access some electronic resources. Collect your PIN now from LSE for You.
