Study spaces and study rooms
Study spaces
Study spaces are available throughout the Library - primarily at the quieter perimeters of the building. The majority of the Library's 1,740 study places are offered on a 'first come, first served' basis, with the following exceptions:
- Quiet study areas are available on the ground and first floors
- A study area specifically for LSE research students is available on the first floor
- During exam time, a number of study spaces are pre-bookable (up to 1 week in advance) and reserved for LSE taught course students on the fourth floor.
Additional quiet study space is available in the New Academic Building. Room 2.19 on the second floor has 20 seats and can be accessed by all LSE students. Library staff will check the room on a regular basis.
Group study rooms
Study rooms are available for LSE students to do group work without disturbing others in the Library. Rooms are available for between two and eight people and can be booked using the online system (advance bookings only) or at the Service Counter. Rooms can be in very high demand so groups can book a maximum of two hours per day only and bookings will be made on a 'first come, first served' basis. NB. Following a building work project on the lower ground floor some group study rooms are temporarily unavailable. In the meantime we will do our very best to accommodate your booking.
For bookings on the day : please ask at the service counter.
