LSE alumni are welcome to use the Library's superb printed collections on a reference basis, and to borrow from them, free of charge. You can apply for an alumni Library card - either register online in advance or use the kiosks opposite the Library Reception Desk You will be asked to show some form of personal ID (e.g. passport, drivers licence, etc.) at Library Reception on your first visit, when collecting your card, and when making subsequent applications for renewal of your membership (Library cards are issued for periods of three years at a time).
Alumni can borrow up to four normal white label loans at a time from the Main Collection, for three weeks. Loans may be renewed, as long as there are no reservations pending. You can renew and reserve items online via the self-service option on the online catalogue - you will need your Library barcode number and PIN, which you can obtain from the Service Counter. Items can also be renewed by phoning General Enquires (020 7955 7229) or in person at the Service Counter by presenting the item or your library card. Items may be recalled if they are requested by another user. Fines are charged on items returned or renewed late. You can use the online catalogue to reserve up to four items at a time.
To print from Visitor PCs, please purchase a copy card from the Copy Shop (Library ground floor) or from a dispenser near the photocopiers. These rechargeable cards are also valid for photocopying. Photocopiers are available on the lower ground floor and in the Copy Shop (ground floor).
LSE alumni may use the dedicated Alumni PCs and Visitor PCs on the first floor of the Library, to access selected online journals and database. Please ask at the Help Desk for details.
