Overview
The LSE Urban Research Centre draws together a group of researchers with interests in cities from a variety of disciplinary perspectives across the social sciences. The Centres objective is to be the hub of debate and initiator of innovative research about contemporary urbanism in all parts of the world.
The Centre brings together a number of researchers and initiatives from several departments within the school (Geography and Environment, Sociology, Social Policy, Government, Development Studies and Economics); there are also common areas of interest with the area based research centres at LSE (Centre for Global Governance, the Asia Research Centre and the European Institute).
The URC is a hub that facilitates an interchange between researchers and teachers at LSE as exemplified by the Doctoral workshops and seminars organised with Urban@LSE.
Finally, the URC links researchers associated with existing initiatives: Urban Age, LSE London, Centre for Social Exclusion and Cities. Details of these activities can be found by clicking on LSE Urban Research and Projects. ^
