Taiwan Research Programme

The Taiwan Research Programme (TRP) is the first Programme of its kind to be offered in the English-speaking world, encouraging an inter-disciplinary approach to the study of Taiwan and a comparative approach to the study of Taiwan in its Asian and global contexts.

The TRP runs seminars, workshops, public lectures, conferences, and (from November 2007) an eJournal, bringing together multi-disciplinary expertise seeking dialogue and debate about the island in comparative and/or inter-disciplinary perspective. Participants seek to develop new theoretical and methodological positions and perspectives that acknowledge the experience of locality in Taiwan in an increasingly unstable and fragmented world.

The Programme is directed by Professor Stephan Feuchtwang, convened by Dr Fang-Long Shih, and guided by a Steering Committee.

The TRP is located in the LSE's Asia Research Centre, which is under the directorship of Professor Lord Nicholas Stern.
