Registering with the police
Procedure
You only have to register with the police if that requirement is stamped in your passport. You must register within seven days of arriving in the United Kingdom, or within seven days of being granted a visa extension. There is a registration fee of £34. You have to complete a Police Registration form.
If you are staying in the Metropolitan Police area, you should take the completed Police Registration form and your passport to:
Overseas Visitors Records Office Ground Floor Brandon House 180 Borough High Street London SE1 1LH
between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
The telephone number is +44 (0)20 7230 1208 and the nearest tube station is Borough (on the Northern line).
If you are registering during the first weeks in October, we suggest that you arrive well before the opening hours as the queues can be very long.
Change of address
If you registered with the police and subsequently moved house, you must report your change of address. You can do this at your local police station.
