Entrance requirements
Undergraduate
To be considered for a first degree, in addition to the Certificado de Conclusão de 2 Grau and/or Vestibular, we would require three A levels, a suitable foundation programme from a university in the UK or the successful completion of a year at a Brazilian university. Applicants applying on the basis of a foundation course or university studies may be asked to sit the LSE Entrance Examination.
The Entrance Examination is one three-hour paper of a general nature requiring no special preparation, held in March of each year. It consists of essays on general discussion topics, a summary of an English language text and tests of mathematical understanding. The Examination may be sat overseas in any approved examination centre. Applicants required to sit the Examination are contacted by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
Please see the individual undergraduate degree programme descriptions in the Undergraduate Prospectus for specific course requirements. Information about how to apply can be found in the prospectus and on the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) website.
Graduate School
To be considered for admission to the Graduate School, we would require the Bacheral, Licenciado or Titulo Profissional with minimum grades of Média superior or 7.5/10.
This is our general minimum requirement; however, some programmes have specific requirements in terms of degree result required and subject background. Please see the Graduate Prospectus for specific course requirements and information about the application process.
Financial Aid
LSE annually awards over £6 million in scholarships and bursaries to its students, with funding available from many different sources. Detailed information about financial aid and scholarships is provided for both undergraduate and graduate applicants, along with more general information on the Financial Support Office web site.

Alumni groups have been set up in over 70 countries allowing alumni to meet up with each other and stay in touch with the School just about wherever they are in the world. You are more than welcome to contact these alumni groups by visiting Houghton Street Online, the LSE online alumni community.

Employment opportunities and voluntary work
Most international students on courses of more than 6 months duration will be given a passport stamp that permits them to work part-time during the term (up to 20 hours a week) and any number of hours during the vacations. However, you should check before you apply for work that you do have this permission, and should bear in mind that LSE guidelines only allow students to work 15 hours a week during term time. You should also note that to meet Immigration Rules for students, you have to show that you have enough money to support yourself during your studies without needing to work.
For comprehensive advice on working in the UK, please go to the UKCISA website.
LSE itself employs many students on a part-time basis, for example, in the Students' Union shop and café.
There are also voluntary opportunities at LSE such as the Student Ambassador and the Student Tutoring schemes, both offering opportunities to work with schools and students.
The LSE Careers Service provides information and advice on employment opportunities after graduation; in addition, opportunities for vacation placements and internships are sometimes advertised here.
Religious Information
All religious faiths are widely represented in London, and the major world religions are well represented in LSE's cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The LSE Chaplaincy provides a focus for information and support for students interested in spiritual issues as well as those already committed to a particular faith. The Chaplaincy works with an ecumenical Christian team and representatives of various religious societies of the Students' Union, such as societies for different Christian denominations, the Islamic Society, the Jewish Society and the Buddhist Group. A rabbi is an associated chaplain and a room has been set aside in the School buildings for Islamic prayer.
The Chaplaincy organises regular Christian activities, groups, seminars, workshops and other forms of discussion for those of all faiths and none. It is a place which offers welcome and hospitality to all, as well as the opportunity to talk confidentially with any of the chaplains at any time.
