The Campaign for Learning will be launching their 2007 Family Learning Week event here at the School on Friday October 5th 2007 from 2pm in the Parish Hall, when young and old from across the School community- and some friends from outside!- come together to hear some interesting speakers talk about learning as a family, find out more about what’s hot in childrens books at present, take part in some of our ‘live events’- including story reading, face painting, arts and craft - meet new folk, make some new friends and share a fabulous high tea!

The day is promoted by the LSE Staff Development Unit and supported by the LSE Nursery, Parents Network and Sustainability team, who will be running another of their popular give and take days - effectively, free jumble sales with a family friendly focus - so if you do drop by, please bring something you do not want but which may be useful for someone else. Family Learning Week: learn young - learn long - learn together. It’s a family affair!

  • The Staff Development Unit, Health & Safety Section and the SU are organising a number of events to promote the Samaritans' National Stress Down Day on 1st February 2007, when workers are being encouraged to 'stress down',  wear their slippers to work and support the work of Samaritans by donating £2.

The purpose of the day is to not only draw attention to the valuable work undertaken by the Samaritans but also to encourage employees to take a moment to consider their own 'stress at work'.

There will be an information stall in the Old Building between 12 & 2pm where people can obtain tips on reducing stress, as well as information about the work of Samaritans. Staff and Students are also invited to drop into the Parish Hall between 4 & 5pm for our 'stress down tea'.

If you don't want to wear your slippers all day or there are health and safety reasons which make it impractical, why don't you relax, chill out and wear your slippers during your tea or coffee break.

For further details on the day please take a look at the Samaritans's website: www.stressdownday.org
