Butlers Wharf
I am both the Warden here at Butler's Wharf and a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems and Innovation within Department of Management. My wife Nora, our brand new daughter Anna and I all live here and it is my responsibility to ensure that all residents have a pleasant and safe time living together. The Butler's Wharf sub-wardens are key to this as they often will be the first point of contact in cases of student discipline and welfare. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have problems that need addressing such as issues with flatmates, personal problems, financial issues, concerns about living in London, etc. There is always a sub-warden on duty when the office is closed and the contact details are posted in the office door. There is also a security guard on premises after 10pm each night, who normally is the first person to deal with excessive noise.
If you wish to see me or have questions I might help you with, please send me an email to c.sorensen@lse.ac.uk (not sorenson!) or come to see me in my office hours.
All relevant contact details etc can be found on my homepage http://www.carstensorensen.com. I am the person to grant permission for people to organise parties in their flats, have visitors stay over more than three nights, residents wishing to swap rooms and a number of other issues. I highly recommend all of you to read the Butler's Wharf handbook to familiarise yourself with the relatively few rules we have here. The sub-wardens and myself aim at ensuring that we all have a pleasant life together.
Butlers Wharf Hall of Residence is a delightful place to live. It is close to the river Thames, with a marvellous view of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Nearby are the Design Museum, St Katherine's Dock, Hay's Wharf, and the creative quarters of Bermondsey and Borough. It is possible to walk to School in 35-40 minutes on a scenic route along the river.
Butlers has a majority of postgraduate students, and is organised into flats, which provide an ideal combination of privacy and the opportunity to socialise. This leads to a friendly and civilised atmosphere, to which new residents are always welcome to make a contribution. Dr Carsten Sorensen (Warden)
