Self-Sponsored Promotion Procedures: Deadlines and Documentation
DEADLINES FOR SELF-SPONSORED PROMOTION PROPOSALS
Referees: by 17 October 2008 Candidates/Heads of Department to submit the name(s) of self-sponsored candidate(s), the grade(s) it is proposed the candidate(s) should be promoted to, and contact information of referees on the standard Form, to Human Resources.
Promotion Submissions: by 7 November 2008 Candidates/Heads of Department submit self-sponsored promotion proposals in the form of a full report indicating the individual(s) research and teaching activities and administrative contribution, curriculum vitae and commentary on teaching contribution on the standard Forms, to Human Resources. Writings: Three properly-ordered sets of up to four writings are required by the Promotions Committee to support proposals for promotion and should be submitted to Human Resources. Three copies of any book reviews, whether favourable or unfavourable should also be submitted.

Self-Sponsored Promotion Proposal Form: completed by the candidate indicating his/her research and teaching activities and administrative contribution and indicating the names of External Experts.
- The CV Template for Promotion: completed by the candidate. The Promotion CV template instructions to candidates is a separate document.
- The Teaching Contribution Form: completed by the candidate.
- The Referees for Self-Sponsored Promotion Form: completed by the candidate giving names and full contact information (including email, telephone and fax) of six outside referees (including 2 reserves) to be consulted by the Promotions Committee.

Three properly-ordered sets of up to four writings which the candidate believes best represent his/her qualities.

Three copies of any reviews which have appeared on the candidate's books whether they are favourable or unfavourable.
MEETING DATES
29 October 2008: The Promotions Committee receives a full list of staff proposed for promotion, approves referees for promotion candidates to be consulted forthwith, approves Departmental lists of External Experts and appoints Promotions Committee members to read promotion candidates' writings.
26 February (& 27) February 2009: The Promotions Committee meets to consider and make decisions on proposals for Promotion. The date of Friday 27 February 2009 is held in reserve for continuation of business from the previous day's meeting on Thursday 26 February 2009.
