The state of democratic accountability in the European Union is far healthier than usually assumed, concludes the book which has been awarded the Richard F Fenno Jr Prize for the best book published in 2007 in the field of legislative studies. Democratic Politics in the European Parliament co-authored by LSE Professor Simon Hix, was awarded the prize by the Legislative Studies Section of the American Political Science Association. More

Award-winning economists show teaching and research excellence (posted 5 August)
Four economists from the London School of Economics and Political Science have won awards for their excellent teaching.
Professor Alwyn Young and Iain Long shared the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2008 in the Learning and Teaching in Economics Awards while Kosuke Aoki and Sanchari Roy were both commended in the category for teachers nominated by their own students More
