The Planning Unit's role is to support the School's planning processes, including those of the Academic Planning and Resources Committee (APRC), and to encourage a coordinated approach to the production of coherent and consistent management information.
Its location in the Planning and Corporate Policy Division ensures that the work of the unit is not seen to be aligned with divisions whose main priority is management of resources or provision of a particular service. The unit is able to assist in the resolution of some delicate high-level planning issues that run the risk of being lost in the gaps between the various strategic bodies in the School with an interest in these matters.
