HEFCE self-assessment toolkit

Following School wide consultation, the School has now submitted it's response to HEFCE on the Self Assessment Toolkit.

The Steering Group would like to thank all staff that provided their valuable feedback to this process.

The School's response is available here.

The tool has been developed by the sector’s professional bodies for human resources - the Universities Personnel Association (UPA) and the SCOP Personnel Network - with support from HEFCE.

The HEFCE self-assessment of people management is designed to help Higher Education Institutions to:

  • Assess their practice and performance in people management
  • Draw on past learning and experience to refine and update human resources (HR) strategies
  • Reassess strategic HR priorities in light of current organisational priorities
  • Develop targeted action plans for further improvement in people management practice
  • Encourage those undertaking the assessment to involve others in the process
  • Secure the commitment needed to bring about change and improvement
