What is the tracking system?
The application tracker contains live information taken from your record on the Graduate Admissions system. This includes:
- Your personal details - name, date of birth, and contact information like your postal and e-mail addresses.
- Your course choices, ordered by preference, and what we have assessed your fee status to be. If you have any queries regarding your fee status please visit the fee status explanation pages first.
- Your application status - what stage your application is at in the process, and the decision if it is available. This information is live and is updated during working hours.
- There is also a full list of required documents, and the status of these documents. If there are any missing or unsatisfactory documents which may be holding up your application, it will say here. Please note that documents are processed in order of receipt (see Missing documents).
- If you receive an offer, you will be able to check what conditions have been set. Ones you have met will no longer be shown. Only conditions or documents still required before registration will be detailed here.
- A decision is authoritative and official only if it has been sent in writing from the Graduate School Office. It may take some time from a decision being indicated on the web status viewer before you receive your official decision in writing.
If any of the information is incorrect please click on the change your details link quoting your application number and date of birth.

Some answers to common problems
Why documents might not be visible on the system yet
The Graduate Admissions office aims to process documents within five to ten working days from the date they are received by the office. For example, if you send a package by registered air mail from Washington DC on the 1st of February, and it arrives with us on the evening of 7th of February, it would usually arrive in our office via internal mail the next day, the 8th. From that date we will take between five to ten working days, so you should expect us to have processed it by the 15th. It may take less, but you should not worry if documents you know have arrived are not logged on to the system immediately. Please do not contact us about your documents before this time has passed, as we will then be using the time we would spend processing your documents in answering your enquiry. At busy times, the volume of correspondence is such that it is not always possible to keep to our target. All documents are dealt with in the order that they arrive - please be patient, we will process your documents as quickly as we can. Any increase in the turnaround time for documents will be posted on the main current processing times page.
Troubleshooting
First, make sure to begin with that you are using the correct details, as shown above. You need to log on with our details, then identify yourself using your own details.
If you have only just submitted your application you will not have an application number, and won't be able to identify yourself to the system. Please be patient and wait for us to contact you with your ID number.
If you are having problems logging in to LSE for You (the first stage), please ensure that you are using the latest copy of your browser software. You can find out more about LSE for You by reading the Frequently Asked Questions on the main page at http://www.lse.ac.uk/portalapps
If logging on to the status checker is the problem (the second stage), please check that you are using the correct applicant number and date of birth. If you have just been notified by Embark that your application is being processed, you should wait five days until you receive our official acknowledgement, which will give your ID number. This will usually be sent by e-mail, so please ensure that you give us a valid e-mail address with your application, or you will have to wait for it to arrive by post.
