Visitors' Guidelines

The Cañada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies accepts a limited number of research visitors in any given term (Michaelmas, Lent and Summer).  Applicants interested in applying for a period of research of up to one year at the Centre should send a copy of their most recent CV together with a written proposal of no more than 1500 words, which gives details of their research and how working at the Cañada Blanch Centre will benefit said research.  To be considered, research proposals must fall within the areas of Spanish history, politics, economics and society promoted by the Cañada Blanch Centre.  Applicants should send their CV and research proposal to us via email at cbcentre@lse.ac.uk

The deadlines for applications are as follows:

-         First Friday of June (for Michaelmas)

-         First Friday of September (for Lent)

-         First Friday of January (for Summer)

Applicants will be notified of the Centre’s decision by the end of the relevant month.

Successful applicants will be given access to the research resources of the Cañada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies, to those of the British Library of Political and Economic Science as well as access to the many research centres in London: the British Library, the Institute of Historical Research and the National Archives Public Record Office.

Research visitors will be expected to attend all seminars given by the Centre during their stay, and possibly will be requested to give a paper themselves (at the discretion of the Director of the Centre).

Upon completion of their stay, all research visitors are expected to submit a report on their activities.

The Cañada Blanch Centre does not offer any financial assistance, and all researchers are expected to be fully funded for the entirety of their stay.
