Tell us about your Bright Idea
Use this page to tell us what your bright idea is. Complaints should not be reported here. Please see the Complaints page.
There is a fund for rewarding good ideas which are used. Prizes will be given based on the merit of the idea. Anonymous suggestions are acceptable but will not qualify for a prize.
Guidelines for suggestions
Whilst suggestions are invited on any topic, prizes are more likely to be given for suggestions in the following areas:
- Improvements to service
- Improvements to the School environment/staff health and well-being
- Enhancements to the School's reputation and profile
- Improvement in procedures and working practices
- Financial benefits
Ensure that your suggestion is practical, innovative and not already in place. We need as much information as you can provide about an idea to make an accurate decision on how good it is and how easily it would be implemented. Why not try discussing your suggestion with others as this may refine the idea. They may be able to help you work out some of the details or know if a similar idea is already being implemented. The more original and fully worked out your idea is, the more likely it is to be accepted and used.
It's also worth checking the list of all suggestions received (pdf) to check that you aren't repeating a suggestion already made. However, if you have a significant twist on a suggestion that has already been made, it could still be in the running.
What will happen to your suggestion?
You will receive an automatic reply to your suggestion. This will be followed up by a personal email that will tell you at which meeting the group will discuss your request. Details of your request will also be sent to the areas that could implement it.
The meeting is held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. After the meeting, the group's decision will be communicated to you. You will also receive feedback on the progress of your suggestion. If your suggestion is not going forward or is already being taken forward by an area of the School, you will be told as soon as possible, with the details as to why or what is happening.
The group's recommendations on the solutions will be forwarded to the Director of Administration for a decision. You will be told what that decision is as soon as possible after it has been made. If your suggestion receives an award, you will be granted up to £100.
Suggestions form
If you submit a complaint using this form, it will be forwarded to the relevant department and no further action will be taken through the suggestions process, although the department will follow up your complaint.
Suggestions can't be made anonymously. Your name and email address will not be forwarded to anyone, not even the group, while it is still being discussed and information is being gathered about it. Your name and email address will only be forwarded to a relevant person if:
- it is a winning suggestion
- it needs further work. A member of the group will offer to act as a sounding board if this is the case.
- it is already going ahead. We will put you in touch with the person already implementing the idea.
