Asia Research Centre

The primary purpose of the Asia Research Centre is to raise the profile of scholarly study of Asia within the School. The Centre is interdepartmental and has the particular object of encouraging and coordinating interdisciplinary social science research in Asian studies.

The Asia Research Centre owes its existence to the imagination and support of two previous Directors of the School, Dr John Ashworth and Dr IG Patel; and to Professor Nicholas Stern, during his time as Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Visiting Professor of Economics at the School.
