LIMITED EDITION PRINT COMMISSION

 

LSE Arts are pleased to announce that following our open submission, two artists, Hana Sakuma and Henna Nadeem have been selected to each produce a limited edition print to celebrate the opening of the New Academic Building (NAB) this coming autumn. LSE are also commissioning Bruce McLean to produce a limited edition print.

Hana Sakuma was born in Osaka, Japan and currently lives and works in London. Her work involves object making, photography, video, writing and talking. She has experience in undertaking public art projects, lecturing, curating and collaborating with artists, curators and academics.In 2006, she completed her Ph. D in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts. Her solo exhibitions include: Solo Sakuma, Seven Seven Contemporary, London2006, ; 100 Books Which I Didn’t Buy, at Unit 2, London in 2005; ‘ from the middle through the middle, Changing Room, Stirling in 2002; ‘It’s not a matter of guilt’, Kojimachi Gallery, Tokyo, Japan in 2000. She has also been commissioned to produce public art projects for the NHS, Hull in 2007 and Spitafields Development Group Commission in 2005. She is currently a research fellow at the Slade School of Fine Art., UCL.

Henna Nadeem graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1993. She has undertaken residencies at Camden Art Centre, London; University of Sunderland (commissioned by Autograph and the University of Sunderland) and at the London Print Studio. Her work has been included in various group exhibitions including I want! I want!, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland and touring (2003-04), and Landscape Trauma in the Age of Scopophilia, Leeds Metropolitan University Gallery and The Gallery, London (2001/02). Solo projects include trees water rocks, Piccadilly Circus Underground Station, London (2004-05) and Billy Bragg, Billboard, Project Art Space, Dublin (2004). Nadeem had a solo exhibition at the Newlyn Art Gallery, Penzance (2005) and in the same year was commissioned by Photoworks, Brighton for her series and book Henna Nadeem’s Picture Book of Britain.
