Terms and conditions

Following your application, if you are accepted into the LSE Alumni Professional Mentoring Network as a registered mentor or as a mentee seeking advice, then the following terms and conditions will apply:

The London School of Economics ('LSE') via its Office of Development and Alumni Relations ('ODAR') have set up the LSE Alumni Professional Mentoring Network ('Mentoring Network') whereby LSE alumni and current LSE students seeking career and professional development advice ('mentees') from an experienced alumnus/a of LSE ('mentor') are able to participate in the Mentoring Network.

ODAR will, as administrator of the Mentoring Network, arrange via the Alumni Relations website to facilitate a mentor/mentee relationship with the objective to better equip alumni and current students in the work marketplace.

LSE reserves the right to, at any time and at its sole discretion, decide that the mentors or mentees are not suitable as participants in the Mentoring Network. The mentors and mentees agree that it has no right to appeal or dispute any such decision.

All mentors are unpaid volunteers of the Mentoring Network; they make no guarantees or promises regarding any advice imparted to mentees and they do not commit to a long-term professional relationship with the mentee.

LSE makes no offer, representation, guarantee or solicitation on behalf of the mentor or mentee and makes no claim as to the quality of any mentor or their suitability for providing coaching, career advice or professional development advice.

Any mentoring session(s), whether online, via telephone or a face to face meeting, is an agreement created solely between the mentor and the mentee, entirely apart from LSE and ODAR and any contact is undertaken at your own risk and responsibility.

By using this service you are agreeing to hold LSE and ODAR harmless in any dispute that may arise in the mentoring relationship. When you register with the Mentoring Network, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LSE and ODAR for any loss, liability, claim, damage, and expenses arising from or in connection with your use of the information or services you receive.

The mentee acknowledges that LSE advises all mentees to seek appropriate independent professional advice before accepting any career or professional development advice as a result of the Mentoring Network.

The mentors and mentees accept that LSE is not liable to for any cost, damage or liability in relation to, or loss caused by or as a result of, the Mentoring Network.

Both the mentor and mentee will keep confidential any information that they receive or obtain as a result of submitting this application that is identified as or would be reasonably expected to be confidential.

We operate a feedback procedure for reporting the quality of services obtained through the Mentoring Network. Both mentors and mentees are obliged to complete appropriate feedback forms in order to help ODAR assess the quality of the service provided. Failure to comply with the procedure will result in the removal of the mentor/mentee from the service.

Both the mentor and mentee agree that LSE may collect and store information they provide through participation in the Mentoring Network and may use this information for the purposes of the Mentoring Network.

Both the mentor and mentee have rights of access to and correction of this information.
