Alumni Association Subcommittees

The Alumni Association has established six subcommittees, each of which has a chair and is supported by a member of staff within the Alumni Relations Team. The subcommittees and their remits are outlined below - more information will be posted in due course, as the subcommittees begin their work.

Alumni Group and Leader Support Committee

  • Oversee coordination and communication of international and UK-based groups
  • Assist groups in improving their effectiveness
    • Expanding and improving local membership
    • Sharing ideas on good programmes
    • Getting good speakers, especially from LSE
    • Advice on dues, financial management
  • Oversee coordination and communication of international and UK-based groups
  • Review and expand the handbook for group leaders

Alumni Group Establishment, Recognition and Obligations Committee

  • Monitor overall health of international and UK groups
  • Advise ODAR on forming new groups, recognition
  • Recommend regeneration of underused groups
  • Recommend voting status of various groups for Forum
  • Review and report on deviation issues
  • Ensure that representation and support of School’s overall mission is sustained by individual groups

 Alumni Lifelong Contact Committee

  • Determine what activities, benefits, opportunities and engagement are most appropriate for young alumni (GOLD group) and recommend such actions
  • Develop alumni links with the Students' Union and Student Societies
  • Examine the stages of development of alumni, from enrolment through retirement and recommend appropriate activities, especially at the older levels

Communication and Activities Committee

  • Advise on the range of communication and activities now offered to individual alumni – magazine, email communication, reunions
  • Advise on the development of the Houghton Street Online web community, especially in relation to unaffiliated alumni
  • Determine ways that the Alumni Association can reach out to unaffiliated alumni
  • Recommend activities that come from the Alumni Association survey of alumni

Mentoring Committee

  • Maintenance and expansion of mentoring programme
  • Develop training programmes for mentors
  • Ensure quality, value and service delivery of the programme to mentors and mentees
  • Liaise with the LSE Careers Service to ensure consistency and coherence between programmes

LSE Internal Ambassadors

  • Keep regular contact with School governance, academic, departments, Library, administration departments so as to promote the value and support from the worldwide alumni body for the School
  • Act as ambassadors from the AA to various aspects of the School
  • Monitor the information sent from the School to the alumni to make sure alumni are kept up to date with activities and events
