LSE and Sciences Po, Paris, are natural partners in Europe focussing on teaching and research in the Social Sciences.

Sciences Po is a vibrant and progressive university based in the centre of Paris. It is committed to training future leaders by enabling them to understand the modern world through a multidisciplinary grounding in the social sciences. As with LSE, it embraces its international outlook with approximately 6,700 students per year, a third coming from over 40 different countries worldwide. Collaboration with Sciences Po has developed and intensified over the past 10 years and includes teaching, research and networking activities. The list below gives further information on the various activities.

LSE-Sciences Po Double Masters Programmes

LSE and Sciences Po have developed a number of double degree programmes which allow students to obtain two degrees, an LSE MSc and a Sciences Po Master, in a study period of two years.

LSE-Sciences Po Double Degree in 'Affaires Internationales' and either International Relations or International Political Economy
LSE- Sciences Po Double Degree in Urban Policy
LSE-Sciences Po Double Degree in Development Economics and Economic History
LSE-Sciences Po Double Degree in European Studies

Sciences Po have also joined the LSE Dual MPA programme as a third partner together with Columbia University. This three-way collaboration allows students to study one year at LSE and one year in either New York or Paris. Full information is available at LSE/SIPA and LSE/Sciences Po Dual Degree MPAs

Public Policy Training Programme (EPPTP)

The four educational partners LSE, Peking University, SIPA–Columbia University, and Sciences Po, Paris have jointly developed the Executive Public Policy Training Programme aimed at high-level Chinese government officials.  It is designed to take place annually over the next five years.

Building on the success of the first ever EPPTP programme, launched in 2006,  the second year programme is currently underway running from 4 June-3 August 2007.  Senior faculty members from all four universities are involved in teaching.

 

LSE-Sciences Po Alliance Professor

Prof Christian Lequesne was the first LSE Sciences Po Alliance Professor to come to LSE for an initial period of two years, a post funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Based at the European Institute he was involved in research and teaching and was playing a key role in further developing the working relationship between the two institutions. Amongst the activities developed during his time at LSE is the LSE-Sciences Po Double Degree in European Studies.  Please click here to read the interview with Christian Lequesne in July 2008 prior to his departure in which he reflects on his time at the LSE.

His successor as LSE-Sciences Po Alliance Professor from the academic year 2008-09 will be Prof Marie Mendras who will be based in the Government Department.

Global Public Policy Network (GPPN)

The GPPN is an association of leading international graduate institutions collaborating to address the most pressing policy challenges of the 21st century by expanding global public policy dialogue and improving graduate-level public policy education.

The GPPN’s founding institutions are Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, The London School of Economics, and Sciences Po Paris.

GPPN over the coming years aims to create a worldwide network that brings a wide range of the best learning and practice to issues of global public policy making and training.

LSE
