King's College London

King's College London (KCL) forms part of the University of London. LSE and KCL collaborate on the delivery of a joint degree, MSc programme in Philosophy and History of Science.

At LSE the programme is based at the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method, at KCL it based in the Philosophy Department at the School of Humanities. Together the two departments form perhaps the major centres for the study of philosophy of science in the UK and one of the top handful in the world. The LSE department in particular draws on the traditions set by its founder, Sir Karl Popper, and distinguished followers such as Imre Lakatos.

Both the LSE and KCL departments received the top 5* rating ('Centre of international excellence') in the most recent national Research Assessment Exercise. The joint degree is internationally highly regarded. The Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science housed at LSE is one of the international centres of the discipline and attracts a series of eminent visitors. MSc students benefit from the seminars and research activities at the centre.
