Programme specifications

According to the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), a programme specification is 'a concise description of the intended outcomes of learning from a higher education programme, and the means by which these outcomes are achieved and demonstrated.'

The QAA view programme specifications as a source of information for potential students and employers, and as a way of gaining feedback from students or recent graduates on the extent to which programmes were successful in promoting the intended outcomes. As the School has detailed information on its programmes in the Calendar, we have an alternative approach to using them. You can find out more by reading the following document, Programme Specifications: An Introduction

The School now has a complete set of programme specifications; these are set out below under the relevant department. Departments are asked to update them regularly. Sample outcomes and objectives can be viewed here, as can sample aims.

A full list of Undergraduate, Diploma, Taught Master's, MRes/Phd and  MPhil/PhD programme specifications can also be viewed here.
