Funding for external events
The academic staff development (ASD) budget has limited funds available each year to support academic staff who wish to attend workshops, courses and other development activities outside LSE.
Funding is not available for staff to attend academic conferences related to their research content interests, as departments have separate funding for this purpose.
Staff wanting to access ASD funds must complete the Application for Fee Support for External Programmes (Word document). Please contact us before making any arrangements - we cannot guarantee to pay for all external events requested by staff.
We will take applications on a 'first come, first served' basis, but they must have a backing statement, and support from your departmental convener or institute director. We will make particular note of applications arising as a result of appraisal. Where possible, please explore internal options first, discuss options with your mentor/ convenor/ manager as appropriate, and seek advice from the Teaching and Learning Centre.
The final decision on funding rests with the Director of the Teaching and Learning Centre, in consultation with the Chair of the Teaching and Learning Assessment Committee as necessary.
Contact Liz Barnett, email: l.barnett@lse.ac.uk or ext: 6623 for further information.
