Priorities

Current research priorities include:

  • social and economic impact studies;
  • HIV/ AIDS and security;
  • HIV/ AIDS and rural livelihoods;
  • assessment of country and regional preparedness (see HIV/ AIDS In Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States: meeting the challenge - facts and policy options);
  • demographic impact studies;
  • politics of national response strategies;
  • transferability of anti-retroviral (ARV) roll-out provision;
  • monitoring and evaluation of ARV provision in resource-poor environments;
  • effectiveness of prevention strategies in resource-poor environments;
  • development of novel methods for assessing epidemic impact costs; and
  • transfer of research to policy.
