Priorities
Current research priorities include:
- social and economic impact studies;
- HIV/ AIDS and security;
- HIV/ AIDS and rural livelihoods;
- assessment of country and regional preparedness (see HIV/ AIDS In Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States: meeting the challenge - facts and policy options);
- demographic impact studies;
- politics of national response strategies;
- transferability of anti-retroviral (ARV) roll-out provision;
- monitoring and evaluation of ARV provision in resource-poor environments;
- effectiveness of prevention strategies in resource-poor environments;
- development of novel methods for assessing epidemic impact costs; and
- transfer of research to policy.
