20 - 21 October 2008

The 3rd Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) Conference with the theme of “Harmonising Globalization: Seeking Solutions to Common Problems” will be held in Beijing. It is being hosted by the Peking University School of Government in collaboration with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

Conference participants will explore challenging issues such as:
• Lessons of China’s Economic Reform: Convergent or Divergent?
• The Future of Global Governance: Balancing legitimacy and efficacy.
• The Global Financial Architecture: Do we need a global financial regulator?
• Energy and the Environment: Can we reconcile the imperatives of growth with the need to reduce carbon emissions and adopt a new  energy paradigm?
• The Global Values Debate: Convergence, conflict or compromise?

22 - 26 October 2008

A Collaborative GPPN research conference for select PhD students from LSE, Sciences Po and Peking University will take place in Beijing at Peking University. The theme is Public governance of markets: European and Asian experiences. The deadline for the Call for Papers is 2 June 2008. For full details please click here. Participants will have their airfares, accommodation and meal costs in China covered through funding by the GPPN China grant programme.

GPPN Conferences

2007 - The 2nd GPPN Conference was held in Singapore in October 2007. Hosted by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, the Conference theme was “Globalising Asia or Asian Globalisation?”. 2006 - The Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) convened its inaugural conference “Advancing Next-Generation Leadership in Global Public Policy: Research, Training, & Practice”, in Paris on 16-17 October 2006. Further details can be found in the Conference report by clicking here.

Other Events

2007 - A talk entitled “China’s Energy Policy from a Global Perspective: Strategies and Issues" took place on 11 January 2007 in Beijing as part of the Global Public Policy Dialogues series. The Dialogues series is part of the Global Public Policy Programme in China, which is run by Columbia University (New York), the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Sciences Po, Paris in collaboration with Peking University.
