About us
The Centre was established in 1990. It promotes research into methodological and philosophical issues, particularly those that arise when insights from both natural and social science are needed for solving practical problems.
The Centre engages in the following activities:
- Research projects devoted to understanding and improving scientific practice and methodology
- A lively Visiting Fellows Programme that brings distinguished academics from around the world to collaborate with researchers from LSE and elsewhere in Britain, and to give lectures and seminars for local and national audiences
- Open forums for discussing science and ethics, science and society, and the public understanding of science
- Seminars, workshops and conferences that bring together the entire London research community involved in the history, methodology and philosophy of the natural and social sciences
