Studying at BIOS

The BIOS Centre provides teaching by some of the world's leading social scientists and an opportunity to be brought into direct contact with the most advanced contemporary research on social aspects of the life sciences. BIOS offers an MSc in Biomedicine, Bioscience and Society and welcomes applications from potential PhD candidates who wish to study for research degrees in any of our priority areas as well as from students wishing to spend up to one academic session at BIOS as a Visiting Research Student.

Students of the MSc programme will be given the opportunity to explore the implications of developments in the life sciences for ideas of personhood and identity, for conceptions of relationships, kinship and family life, for political economy, for the organisation and funding of healthcare, for problems of government and regulation, for practices of therapy and control and much more.

PhD students will find a rich research environment at BIOS, including ample opportunities to interact with peers both within and outside the Centre.

For further information about the MSc, MPhil and PhD programmes, please contact the BIOS Centre Manager, Sabrina Fernandez, at s.c.fernandez@lse.ac.uk.
