Residential
Halls
We currently have eleven sites offering accommodation solely to LSE
students. All in all these residences can accommodate
more than 3400 students offering a variety of styles, facilities and costs.
There are also eight intercollegiate
halls which accommodate students from the LSE as well as the other
colleges of the
University of London. These halls provide the opportunity to meet and socialise with a
greater diversity of students. Approximately 20% of the School's first year undergraduates are accommodated in
the intercollegiate halls.
LSE accommodation is offered on a
random basis within quotas set out for each hall. In each residence, there will be a
mixture of students; home and overseas, men and women, undergraduate and postgraduate.
New undergraduate students (including General Course) will occupy about
36% of all
spaces. Postgraduates are expected to take about 56% of spaces in LSE
halls and continuing
students approximately 8%. The School
is able to offer accommodation, in either LSE or Intercollegiate residences, to all first
year undergraduate students (including General Course) who apply by the deadline (though we cannot
guarantee that your offer will be for your preferred residence or in a single room).
Students from within London should apply for halls if they require a space and whilst we cannot
guarantee making an offer before term starts we would expect the last few students to be
accommodated by the second week of term at the latest.
