Spanish in Motion

The Language Centre presents Spanish in Motion a series of documentary films in Spanish followed by a question and answer session with the film makers and experts in the field. Spanish in Motion is financed by LSE Alumni through the LSE Annual Fund and organised in collaboration with the LSE SU Film Society.

The Events

At each event the Spanish team elaborate different language activities that can be used in the classroom to prepare students for the screenings.

LSE students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the Spanish world beyond the classroom. It benefits students who are already fluent in Spanish, as well as those taking Spanish courses at the Language Centre.

Screenings are open to the public. The aim is to promote greater understanding of Spanish speaking societies and to outreach to the international community that exists at LSE community and beyond.

2008

Documentary in English and Spanish by British film director Holly Aylett; Tales Beyond Solitude (1989)
This film travels the landscapes of North East Colombia in search of the spirit of magical realism The film won first prize in foreign documentary at the Havana Film Festival.

Documentaries in Spanish by Cuban director Lizette Vila
Three documentaries presented by this award winning documentary producer. Lizette Vila was also president of the Cuban Association of Cinema, Radio and Television.
